I found myself at Starbucks within 3 minutes of leaving the gym, since lately Starbucks has been touting their hot chocolate. According to Starbucks' website, Chantico™ Drinking Chocolate is "a drinkable dessert with an intense, full-bodied chocolate flavor and silky, rich texture." I didn't expect anything close to the hot chocolates you get in Paris where real chocolate bars are melted for your drink... but I was hoping for at least a good chocolate fix. (I still dream about the hot chocolat a l'Africaine I had at Angelina on the Rue de Rivioli that was so thick it could have been poured over ice cream. Yum! ) Well Starbucks isn't even close. Not a great drink... thin & soupy... even with a big dollop of whipped cream. So, until I can get back to Paris, I'll slowly melt my own bar of Valhrona into a hot cup of milk and keep on dreaming. Angelina, 226, rue de Rivioli, Paris 1 (First Arondissment); Tel. 011 + (331) + 42.60.82.00.

Restaurant Tidbits

Today we had a late lunch in beautiful downtown Burbank in The Disney Channel Building at Bacco Trattoria-Marketplace-Wine Bar. Who knew we could find a westside type restaurant in Burbank?? The menu has a great selection of antipasti, salads, pastas & main dishes. The chopped salads come with a choice of turkey, genoa salami or tuna (we had the salami). The waitress Jean was fantastic. It turned out we knew her from another restaurant. And, before we forget, the grilled chicken & mushroom ravioli al fredo was just perfect and enough for us to split as a main course. Now let's hope the rest of Riverside Drive catches up.
Bacco Trattoria, 3821 Riverside Drive, Burbank. 818-845-8036.
